TOP PRIORITY URGENT ACTION

This October central government will invite local authorities (including county councils) to 'opt in' to the Sustainable Communities Act process. If they do not do this then their local communities (you!) will not be able to use the Act at all.

So please write to your councillors urging them to 'please opt in to the Sustainable Communities Act process when invited by Government to this October’. You can download a sample letter here. To find out who your councillors are call your local authority or check on their website or check here.

Other Actions

1. Join the campaign here.

2. Distribute copies of the new Local Works guide to using the Sustainable Communities Act in your area. Emailng your request to info@localworks.org or call 020 7278 4443.

3. Get involved in the citizens' panels your council will set up if (when!) it chooses to opt in after this October. Detail on this will be available from your council.
